How Does it Feel to Prematurely Ejaculate During Sex?
Premature Ejaculation (PE) is defined as the inability to control the timing of ejaculation during sexual activities. Men describe the physical sensation of Premature Ejaculation as a feeling of loss of control, a sense of urgency, or pressure to ejaculate.
Premature Ejaculation can gradually impact your sexual experiences and relationships. It also makes it difficult for you to enjoy a relaxed sexual activity with your partner.
Frustration, embarrassment, and anxiety related to PE can be overwhelming. You may believe you cannot satisfy your partner fully and avoid sexual intimacy altogether. You might avoid affection because you fear your partner viewing affection as a sign of sexual interest. Since you do not feel confident in your ability to satisfy your partner sexually, you will also avoid affection.
Premature Ejaculation might also lead to low self-esteem and low self-worth. Some of my clients report that they feel less masculine for not being able to satisfy their partner.
It is very important to remember that PE is not your fault; it is a common condition that can be caused by a variety of factors, including psychological issues such as stress and anxiety, physical issues such as thyroid problems, or even certain medications.
As a sex therapist, I am aware that shame and embarrassment are barriers for many men to seek medical or sexological treatments. If you are experiencing Premature Ejaculation and it is affecting your relationship and your life, please know that Premature Ejaculation can be treated through behavioural techniques, medication, individual counselling or couples therapy.
When you are ready, please reach out to your healthcare professional or a sex therapist. Together, they can determine the underlying cause of PE and develop a treatment plan most beneficial to your circumstances.
I wish you all the best.
